Congratulations to the combined Los Angeles and Dallas Alentisar litigation team on their recent achievements in the Northern District of Texas, having successfully secured an in camera, Ex Parte Temporary Restraining Order to freeze the assets of the defendant in Alentisar Trading Company v. Alphonse Daudet Eyondi, et al.

The team headed by Tony Handal and Brent Lehman, represents Alentisar, a large Saudi Arabian food products distributor that was scammed into wiring money to the defendant, a scammer, who hijacked the website of a large Brazilian food products wholesaler (i.e., website “spoofing”).  The scammer tricked the client into submitting an order for products they had no ability to or intention of delivering. The scammer used forged documents in the form of price lists, bills of lading, and invoices to further the scheme. The defendant created fictitious LinkedIn profiles to further lend credibility for various aliases. After payment was made and the goods failed to show up, the client suspected it had been duped but it was too late since the terms of shipment were all cash. In the end the defendant disappeared with the client’s money and the goods were never delivered.

After securing all of the fraudulent paperwork Lehman followed the money trial and tracked the fraudulent food products wholesaler to Dallas. Handal directed a strategy that involved filing suit in Dallas and seeking a TRO over the defendants’ asset while the case was litigated.  At that point, the Dallas team headed by Tracy Carson, prepared a Federal Complaint detailing several acts of wire and mail fraud, in the Norther District of Texas. The Pleadings and TRO papers were filed under seal to prevent the defendants from moving money.  After considering the papers, Judge Brantley Starr granted MWM’s Application for the Ex Parte TRO, restraining one of the fake entities from depleting funds in the subject’s bank account. The TRO preserves the status quo while the client litigates a compelling fraud claim, ensuring that there will be funds at the end of the line when the client wins a money judgment.

Outstanding work on behalf our client! The Alentisar team includes Handal, Lehman, Carson, Darla Pound, and Tana McDonald.
