Martinez is a senior litigation partner with a 21-year legal career representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of business disputes. She has worked for small, large, and midsized firms, and she rose to the rank of name partner and executive vice president at a boutique litigation firm in Dallas before joining MWM. Martinez is known for taking on significant business disputes involving banking, real estate, employment, securities, and technology. She served as a key member of the defense team for Halliburton in connection with the civil litigation and investigation of British Petroleum’s Macondo well (Deepwater Horizon) blowout in the Gulf of Mexico, the largest environmental lawsuit in the history of the United States.
At MWM, Martinez serves as a mentor and helps the firm with recruiting and diversity and inclusion events. She understands the challenges of women lawyers having accomplished an impressive list of career milestones while raising four children as a single mom. Martinez was a key participant in MWM’s S.H.E. Summit, a women’s empowerment event that drew more than 300 attendees in 2018. The following year she served as a panel moderator and was part of the S.H.E. planning committee.
Frequently honored for her legal and business skills, Martinez is regularly listed as a Texas Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters and a Best Lawyer in Dallas by D Magazine. She received her J.D. cum laude from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.
