Munck Wilson Mandala partner Jenifer Wallis was selected as a Top Women Attorney for 2020 by the Los Angeles Business Journal based on her outstanding legal work in the Los Angeles business community.
Wallis brings more than 14 years of legal experience, representing clients in intellectual property, complex litigation, and entertainment. In business litigation, Wallis represents clients as the lead chair in trade secret, trademark, and copyright infringement lawsuits in state and federal courts. She routinely handles trademark and copyright infringement actions, and she serves as general counsel to large and small companies, advising them on IP portfolios and other matters.
In entertainment law, Wallis acts as general counsel to production companies, negotiating with networks on their behalf, and drafting all necessary talent agreements, location agreements, production schedules, and other legal documents. Wallis has been the legal architect in the complicated company structure of groundbreaking productions.
Wallis’ recent top cases include a big win in January 2020 on behalf of MWM client Tmax. The case sought well over $5 million in damages against Tmax and after several rounds of demurrers over a 19-month period, Wallis succeeded in having the case dismissed against Tmax. Wallis also served as lead counsel for an international religious association’s IP infringement claims against a group of former members in Iglesia Ni Cristo v. Cayabyab, et al. pending in the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of California. She is the go-to lawyer for the Apex entities’ (owner of the Brookstone brand) litigation and advisory needs.
Wallis practiced law at a private law firm in Alabama before opening her own firm in 2010. She maintained her own firm through 2014 before relocating to Los Angeles. She received her J.D. from Samford University, Cumberland School of Law where she was on the dean’s list and a member of the National Trial Team. Wallis also holds an MPH and Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
The Los Angeles Business Journal will recognize the 2020 Top Women Attorneys in the Apr. 27, 2020 issue, both print and on-line.
